Frog King

The Banger Sisters is on and I just heard about Suzette's tatoo The Lizard King, Jim Morrison's vision of himself. And here we have the Frog King being worshiped as is appropriate in the case of all kings. Hey, it's almost February and a warm streak is on the way! Wonderful.

Bored with Winter

So many toys and nothing to do. The sun spot wandered away and my poor Joy cat really wants the summer to come back. Is it STILL January?

Dreaming

Well, we're having a "heat wave" and though it is after dark already it's still 36 degrees so the ice is melting. I'll have to put on the light comforter for tonight, but not put it away since tomorrow night expects to be in the teens again. We're suppose to get rain tonight and in the morning which should help with the melt a little, and 40 something is predicted for tomorrow! It's hard to believe it's still January, but I know for certain that just around the corner summer awaits and then I'll be sitting on this float being rocked by the ocean.

Alpaca Chat

So, what do you think about the price of tomatoes? I wonder what they are really talking about, this woman and her fine furry friend. There is some serious communication going on here and it appears the alpaca is taking it all very seriously. I hope he had some good advice for her. Isn't it wonderful how much love we get from and share with our 4-legged families?

Heater Hugger

This is her Royal Highness Princess FuzFace, queen of the heater huggers. Here she is, sound asleep tucked up next to the radiator with her feet tucked under it. Honest, I have no idea how she got so spoiled, but she certainly is capable of making herself comfortable!

Waiting

Yes, it does seem like the longest January in the history of the world. I thought Leap Year meant February was a long month, but apparently I was wrong... or maybe it will be both. Well, the good news is it's expected to jump into the 30's this weekend and the 40's next week. I'm happy about that, and waiting...

Cozy Fire

I don't have a fireplace, so most winters I keep something like this on my desktop and there's usually a candle burning in the living room. I like this though because it's a reminder of a lovely Thanksgiving with new friends, the quiet crackle of wood popping, the fine smell of smoke and the lovely warmth on my stocking feet. Thanks Gloria for the fine memories!

Color

Everything's so black and white now... green and white (by the pines) gray and white (everywhere else)... and white is certainly the most prominent thing. Everyone's already taken down or stopped lighting, their holiday lights, now that the dark months are upon us, and the world is lacking in light and color. We can still look to the sky at either end of the day to catch some color. Last week when the sun rose right after 3 inches of fresh snow coating, the snow was all pink and startlingly brilliant where the sunrise lit it. Well, here's a little splash of color for us, to get us through another week of below freezing temperatures. Blessings and Love :-)

Still January?

Although we're entering only our second Arctic Cold Snap and the first one only lasted 30 hours, it does seem like it's been a long January. Today they predicted 20 something for the high with wind chills dropping it down to zero. Tonight's low of 11 already feels like minus something, but since the Patriots just won I don't have access to the weather channel. It was good to be in my nice warm living room watching those crazy fans freezing on TV and we're both glad we're not in Green Bay for tonight's game. The rest of this week, except for some time Tuesday, looks to be under the freezing mark - night and day - so we're grateful that there's not much precipitation predicted. Thanks God!

Computer Time

We're always taking turns over here in the computer corner. I get the chick-flick and he gets to play computer games. He gets the football game and I get to photoshop. It's a good thing that Oscar bearly gets out of bed long enough to displace both of us in the office. Maybe Oscar gets his time when nobody's home or after we go to bed.

No Golfing

The 24 hour arctic cold snap is over and the weather channel says it'll be going up by 5-8 degrees every day now. Oh, I know there'll be more winter weather ahead, but...
Meanwhile two men perched on the edge of the pool at the YMCA this morning and daydreamed about going golfing. Not Yet!

Happy Birthday Everybody

We had a group birthday party tonight for 5 January and 2 December people. Chinese - the best choice, dozens of different dishes passed back and forth under our noses. So many options, so many wonderful flavors. Joanne's mom sent a big enough check to pay for 20 people and we were all full even before the carrot cake went around. It may have been the coldest day of the year, but we were warm and full and laughing a lot. It's such a treat, almost a miracle, in fact, because those of us born this time of year usually come up on the short end of the stick for celebrations. Thank you Joanne and Joanne's mom for celebrating us!

Beginning

People like to think they know something about the year ahead. I think that's what most of the resolutions are for. Some hope that we can control the future, to know what's going to happen next. I hope that I'll be able to control my attitude, to face whatever happens with a "Thank You!" even if I don't understand it's appearance. I know well enough that many things I initially believed to be "good" did not end up that way, and the reverse has been true uncountable times as well. It makes me wonder if I should bother judging it. For now, THANK YOU for the day I've had, the plans on the calendar, the hope that I'll be able to complete them. Thank you for the prolific prosperity that I take so completely for granted that I go so far as to say "not good enough" to the lack of "perfection." Thank you for the new snow to shiny-up and highlight the first day of the year, and for that dedicated man who went out and pushed the snow blower around, again! Thank you for fresh new flannel sheets on my bed and the bath tub all ready filled and waiting for my hot soaky bath. Amen!
