I just read the most amazing article that makes perfect sense and represented the opposite view, from someone who knew, of all the wisdom we were taught when we were young.
Of course you would be much safer lying NEXT TO something large and bulky like the couch or bed the car or desk, because even as the item itself is being crushed, there is space on either side of it that is protected by the bulk of it!
I don't expect to be in any more earthquakes since I left California, but if it ever does happen, I know for sure I won't be under things that crush, I'll be lying right next to them!
